Acoustic Array Canisters

These designs were developed to protect sensor data collecting telemetry electronics to an ocean depth of 5000 feet. These are precision machined cans with o-ring sealed headers that support the electronic circuits and components through their handling and deployment environments.

Monkey Morsel Dispenser

The device presents a treat to a primate under test and either allows or denies the treat when reached for depending on the customers switched input. The unit is controlled by a programmable controller and is driven by 110VAC @ 60Hz and an air supply which can provide 40 psig. Commands are performed simply via open/close switch to ground input signals or it can be controlled via a user programmed computer TTL interface via a 25D subminiature pin connector.

The unit was designed using hard coat anodized aluminum and acetal resin plastic parts to provide a rugged and washable yet safe unit for the research laboratory. The surfaces are smooth and contoured and assembled with flush or countersunk hardware to alleviate any gripping features. The trap door that denies the treat to the primate does not close until a user defined amount of time passes after the detection of the primates fingers have left. It will automatically reload after a programmed period of time or not until the user commands it. This is the only known design that presents a primate a treat and then denies it if the researcher's conditions have not been met. The design provides a rugged, versatile, washable tool for the primate research laboratory.

Robotic Mixed Media Data Changer

This system is a self-contained modular unit comprised of a platform, 6-axis robotic arm, target sensor suite, lift table, pneumatic and electronic acuators, drive and media cabinets, and interconnecting cabling. Of the two units built so far, one consists of 20 CD readers, 4 CD writers, and 1000 CDROMs and the other consists of 6 VHS tape drives and 100 VHS tapes.
